Women and Leadership
IESE’s women alumnae aren’t “superwomen,”
just talented individuals who are passionate about their companies
and love to lead. With IESE leading the way in research on work/life
balance issues, and with a recent conference on “Women,
Business & Society in the 21st Century,” we invited
several alumnae to share the secrets of their success…
Two years ago, IESE’s
International Center of Work and Family (www.iese.edu/icwf) carried
out an interesting study on the professional careers of IESE alumni.
Among the results of the study were the following:
• Women make up approximately
10 percent of IESE’s alumni. This percentage has grown
significantly in recent years, although it still remains
small.
• 18 percent of alumnae occupy general
management positions, and of these, 53 percent lead departments,
13 percent lead sections and 4 percent lead their own enterprises.
• Approximately 70 percent of
these women are married and have children. All have university
degrees, and 61 percent have an MBA. The average age of
their companies is five years or more, and they cover a
wide scope of industries.
