Six centuries ago, Ibn Khaldun wrote about fostering international peace through foreign trade, people’s satisfaction, business profits and the increased wealth of nations. The modern world might do well to heed his words today.

Executive Summary
In today’s complex world, in which we constantly face the threat of culture clashes, managing prejudices and keeping emotions in check has never been more important. For this reason, business schools have started to take research into this area very seriously and are introducing new programs to help executives improve their decision-making and their ability to monitor their emotions and impulses in areas such as negotiation, social skills, conflict management and assertiveness. The author of this article asks: if this is valid for business, why is it not equally valid in realms such as politics, civic and social relations, and the debate on cultural and moral questions in the world in which we live?
