9th Annual IAACE Reunion Schlosshotel Weilburg

A delightful weekend

. Markus Feldmann (MBA 89) and Benedikt König (MBA 95) once again brought together IESE's Central European Alumni. As usual, a unique and picturesque location was chosen: Weilburg, one of the nicest baroque estates in Germany, and situated on the top of a hill overlooking the curve of the river Lahn.

As on previous occasions, the program combined interesting seminars with social activities that made the reunion a perfect weekend of fun and relaxation.

"Yes, I was in Weilburg for the weekend. It was a really interesting, well-organized event with 40 alumni attending the meeting. We had three speakers who gave insights into fields like executive search, temporary work opportunities, and how to balance a consulting life with the private one", commented Werner Hane (MBA 98) after the afternoon sessions.

The seminars started on Saturday, November 14th, with Gert Jan Peters (MBA 91) of Randstad Zeitarbeit giving insight on how the temporary employment field functions and whether it may be a means to decrease long-term unemployment in Europe.

The second speaker, Philippe Alloing, Arthur D. Little's European Vice President of HR, talked about how to combine career goals with a private life.

Hans-Heiner Krüpper, owning partner from Ray & Berndtson Technik, part of Ray & Berndtson Executive Search, presented findings from a study he performed on numerous executives. As key outcomes he found that although the majority of the executives are satisfied with their work 70% expect that they will change their position within the next two years.

On Sunday, Professor Eduardo Martínez Abascal gave a conference titled "Our challenges" in which he explained how IESE is facing the challenges that are arising as we enter the 21st Century.

In attendance were Pablo Aguilar, Director of the Admissions Department, and Kathleen Dolan, who recently joined the MBA Career Service Department. Afterwards, Dorothee Harsch (MBA 95), member of the Standing Comittee in the Alumni Association, demonstrated all the features of the excellent Alumni web page.

The alumni were given a user code and a password to access special features and share messages and information among colleagues.
