IESE-Arthur D. Little Case Competition:
Tuck Takes Top Prize at 2001

The Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth swept the 2001 IESE-Arthur D. Little MBA Case Competition held on April 22 at IESE in Barcelona. Teams of MBA students from London Business School, Chicago Graduate Business School, Richard Ivey School of Business, the University of Michigan Business School, J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Rotterdam School of Management, Columbia Business School, Amos Tuck School of Business Administration and IESE Business School competed in this year’s edition.

This year’s case was written by Robert Crawford, Research Associate, under the supervision of Ming Zeng and Hellmut Schütte, Professors at INSEAD. Entitled “China’s Haier Group: Growth through Acquisitions”, it addressed corporate culture change in the context of a Chinese state-owned enterprise.

After three days of preparation, each team presented their analysis of the case and proposed their strategy to a panel of judges, which included 3 senior Arthur D. Little consultants and the case writer. The competition tests the students’ analytical, communication and presentation skills. It also provides the opportunity for MBA students from around the world to compete and network.
