IESE:
Springboard for Entrepreneurs and Breeding Ground for New Businesses
Entrepreneurs and Investors Find Their Perfect Match
It’s logical that a business school that encourages the
entrepreneurial spirit should become a fertile birthplace for
new initiatives. These are some of the people who have benefited
from the springboard offered by the Business Angels Forum and
gone on to launch their entrepreneurial ventures in the marketplace.
Lilium
Say it with flowers
When Didac Giribets heard Timo Buetefisch’s idea, he knew
that it could be successful. A few meetings with Buetefisch (MBA
’04) were enough to convince him that he wanted to be part
of the team. “Offering a product like designer flower arrangements
at competitive prices in a highly segmented market was a good
opportunity,” says Giribets.
Buetefisch was looking for more than money; he wanted a venture
capital partner who would share experience as well: “Didac
Giribets was the perfect match. His experience in the logistics
market – an important element in this business – along
with his knowledge of company management and his network of contacts
in Catalonia, convinced me to share this business venture with
him.”
Lilium is a dream turned reality, offering a complete range of
services for both businesses and private customers. Whatever the
occasion, Lilium says it with flowers: special flower arrangements
for individual events, bouquets sent to order, floral decorations
that can be constantly renewed, all created out of Buetefisch’s
workshops.
The seeds of Buetefisch’s idea were sown while taking the
Naves entrepreneurship course as part of his MBA program. The
idea took root thanks to his MBA team and the support he received
from professors Pedro Nueno, Juan Roure and Marc Sachon. Finding
an investor through IESE’s Business Angels Forum was like
the water that led his idea to blossom. “What more could
an entrepreneur ask for?” he asks, enjoying the sweet smell
of Lilium’s success.
