Global Executive
MBA Class of 2005
An Eye-Opening Experience
Global Executive MBA classmates Erik Boyter
and Gennady Teriaev come from different continents and different
business sectors – and that’s what lends strength
to this innovative program, enabling successful executives to
obtain a world-class MBA without interrupting their careers. In
this article, they explain how the Global Executive MBA has changed
their lives.
The odds of a bathroom
fittings manufacturer from Denmark and the owner of a supermarket
chain from Siberia ever crossing paths during their lifetimes
are slim. Yet these sorts of unlikely encounters occur on a regular
basis as part of IESE’s Global Executive MBA, and help account
for part of the program’s popularity and success.
Launched in 2001 for successful managers with an
average of 10 years’ work experience, the latest Global
Executive MBA program brought together 36 professionals from 17
countries to obtain a world-class MBA without interrupting their
careers.
In order to reflect the multinational makeup of
today’s globalized business environment, participants were
divided into teams to work together during seven modules spread
over 16 months in four culturally diverse locations: Barcelona,
Madrid, Silicon Valley and Shanghai.
That’s how Erik Boyter, 38, from Denmark,
and Gennady Teriaev, 34, from Siberia, met each other in the same
team.
